Coca-Cola's NFT Splash

Pop those corks! The fizzy drink giant, Coca-Cola, is diving deep into the digital realm! Tying up with Coinbase's 'Onchain Summer', they're all set to unveil their 'Masterpiece' NFT collection using Ethereum's Layer 2, Base.

You heard that right! The mint for this scintillating NFT range, termed 'Masterpiece', is launching right atop Ethereum’s Layer 2, Base. Picture iconic artworks like Edvard Munch’s ‘The Scream’ and Johannes Vermeer’s ‘The Girl with the Pearl Earring’ blending seamlessly with modern masterpieces by creators like Aket and Vikram Kushwah. That's the flavor Coca-Cola is serving!

This exclusive collection will be available to mint for participants of the Onchain Summer. An event by Coinbase, the Onchain Summer spreads across several weeks, spotlighting Base’s mainnet dApp allies in domains like digital art, music, and gaming.

So, what's the buzz around this Base? Launched publicly by the crypto mammoth, Coinbase, just a few days back, Base is on a mission to turbocharge dApps. Envision a blockchain working at lightning speed with tinier fees than Ethereum. They started testing the waters with Base in February 2023, aiming to tackle the hurdles developers face on Ethereum’s mainnet, especially during peak traffic times.

But hold on, Base has another trick up its sleeve: the Optimistic Rollup tech. It's their master plan to slash transaction fees and amp up scalability.

Winding the clock back, Coca-Cola isn't a newbie in the NFT scene. Remember when they dropped NFTs on International Friendship Day in 2021 and 2022? Yep, they did it on OpenSea. Then in 2022, they opted for Polygon's Blockchain for an exclusive NFT giveaway. And not to forget, they even joined forces with Crypto.com last December, minting a unique collection of 10,000 NFTs for the Qatar 2022 World Cup.

In a nutshell, after flirting with Ethereum Layer 2 like Polygon, Coca-Cola's now betting big on Base. Let the digital festivities begin!
